Honors 11: Fences Wrap up + Intro to Rev. Theatre

Third hour lost some time today due to the lock down drill, but we spent the majority of the hour discussing and adding notes to our Fences discussion guide before submitting it to the inbox for points.

Afterwards, I quickly introduced the Black Arts Movement and the Black Separatist Movement which our next author, Amiri Baraka (if you didn’t look up anything about him this weekend, do so tonight), started/was involved with during his time as a Black Nationalist in the 60s. Here’s also a brief history of African American theater which delves into both. Please read a little about both before reading and annotating as needed his piece about Revolutionary Theatre. You will discuss tomorrow using these questions as a guide before having time to begin reading his 1964 play, Dutchman for Wednesday.
