English 10: Act II of The Crucible

We started today with a bell work regarding the article you read by Arthur Miller titled “Journey to The Crucible” which you were to have read and annotated over the weekend. I asked you, in three questions, to consider 1. What was Arthur Miller’s purpose in writing this piece? What does it show about him as a person? 2. What is the tone of the article i.e. what is the attitude Miller takes towards his subject matter? What mood/feeling can be derived from the tone? and 3. Copy down two key lines/phrases that are significant. Explain your selection.

We then shared out before finishing our reading of Act II of the play using our questions as a guide. When we finished our reading/the questions in small groups, we grabbed this quote/theme work to work on. Both will be turned in at the beginning of the hour on Thursday stapled together. I will answer any questions before the Act II quiz then.

Bring your SSR book tomorrow! We will read, and I will assign our first SSR project before we do a little grammar work.
