Honors 11: Grapes Quote/Theme Group Work

We spent the hour first playing “Say the same thing” outside. We then debriefed our impromptu essay from yesterday, and afterwards I talked to you about this Shockley piece concerning Christian symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath (you will annotate as needed). We are reading it for next Thursday. There will also be an extra assignment that goes along with it, so I am giving you the reading ahead of time.

We spent the rest of the hour working in small groups to create a poster concerning one of our assigned themes from the quote analysis work. Your job was to find 3 quotes, draw a picture with a corresponding explanation of relevance, and then write a 5-7 sentence paragraph of analysis that uses embedded evidence from the quotes selected to prove a claim. We will have time to finish tomorrow before we present.
