English 10: Wrap up of Employability and Intro to Catcher in the Rye

We started today by jotting some ideas in our notebook concerning how we felt about the employability unit and what we felt we gained through the process. I will return the resume rough drafts (they were due yesterday) on Thursday and we will make final FINAL changes in the lab to be submitted as a 50-point FINAL DRAFT. If you have not yet turned in a draft, you must do so immediately.

I then began introducing our next unit with the novel, Catcher in the Rye, and its author, J.D. Salinger. We took notes on this introductory power point, which I stamped in for points. We read this piece by Mitch Albom together in class which was written after Salinger died at 91 years old in 2010. I then gave you this sheet on which to brainstorm the meaning of and examples of the word PHONY, a word which our narrator, Holden Caulfield, will use often. Bring your SSR book for tomorrow.
