Honors 11: “Nature” and Transcendentalist Poetry

We first took the transcendentalism quiz. Most of you did very well, over 100%. We then discussed “Nature” by Emerson in its philosophical purpose. We then were given time to wander and be on our own to write a 10-line transcendentalist poem. For tomorrow, please read Chapter 4 of “Nature”, titled “Language.” Also, read through the directions for the transcendentalist scavenger hunt due 1/5/15. We will have time tomorrow to finish our poems and submit them with the Whitman/Ginsberg poem annotations.
