Honors 11: Thoreau and Emerson

We first shared our timelines in super groups and then turned them in to the inbox. After, we refreshed our memories surrounding “Civil Disobedience” by H.D. Thoreau and its ultimate message to readers. We then read his short poem titled “Men Say They Know Many Things”, and using one of these poetry explication methods, you taught me something concerning your understanding of the poem. It transitioned into Emerson’s views on knowledge.

We started reading Emerson’s “On The American Scholar” for homework. Please feel free to do some research regarding the need for college or following an academic path for tomorrow.
