Honors 11: “Ode to a Nightingale” and Gatsby Ch. 2

We finished annotating as a class Keats’ “Ode to a Nightingale” and discussing its connection to Gatsby, Fitzgerald’s Romantic impulses depicted through certain characters, and most specifically, Daisy and her voice as a “deathless song.” We will write an in-class response tomorrow. Here’s an optional reading (however, there may be spoilers) that might further your knowledge of Fitzgerald’s connection to Keats and the Romantic impulses he displays in the novel.

We then began working on these Ch. 2 close reading questions. We will discuss tomorrow.
