Honors 11: Grapes Quote/Theme Work

We got into groups today to share our thoughts on the novel as a whole. You then selected one of the themes you used to analyze the significance of the quotes for your summer reading work. We picked one theme for each group and created a poster to depict that theme. We put 2-3 quotes on the front along with a drawing. Then, on the back, we used embedded evidence from the front to synthesize our thoughts on Steinbeck’s authorial intent in utilizing this theme. We will share out tomorrow.

For homework, please read the Battle Hymn of the Republic, from which Steinbeck (or should I say his wife) got the title.

Also, for next Tuesday, you are going to be reading this Shockley article about Christian Symbolism in Grapes. You will be writing a summary of and response by Tuesday morning to the piece as well as annotating the article.

Here’s an updated calendar.
