Honors 11: Critical Race Theory

We began the day reflecting on what we discussed yesterday (2nd hour had to finish the TEdtalk by Bryan Stevenson). I then handed out Peggy McIntosh’s article titled “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack”. We read this silently and then wrote, on the back, 1 paragraph of summary and 1 paragraph of critical response using a claim and at least 2 embedded/glancing quotes to prove it. When you were done, you began reading Linda Martin Alcoff’s “In Arizona, Censoring Questions About Race.” We want to be able to understand the role race covertly plays in our systems, politically, economically, educationally, legally, etc. in terms of a critical race theory lens.
