Honors 11: A Small Place

We began the day sharing, in a book club format, the issues being discussed in our indy reading books. I assigned the following journal entry assignment due on Wednesday, April 30th:

About 1-2 pages, double-spaced.

  • 1 paragraph summary and explanation of author’s argument or perspective

o   What important issues/problems are developing in your book at this point? Where is the author coming from? Does he/she have a clear or developing argument related to globalization? Do his/her experiences place him/her on one particular side of an issue?

  • 1 paragraph response related to what you’re thinking about researching

o   What interests you the most about your book? How might the issue(s) in your book direct your research?

We spent the rest of the hour discussing Kincaid’s first chapter in A Small Place.
